Jean-Pierre Vasarely, known as Yvaral was born in January of 1934 in Paris. He died August of 2002 at the age of 68. He was considered to be one of the precursors of the digital art.

First research into constructive abstract art in 1954
Co-founder of the Visual Art Research Group in 1960, with which he exhibited throughout the world until 1968.

Digital imaging is of two varieties: one involves combining photographic images to create new images with the aid of special computer programs. Like in Jean-Pierre Yvaral with Mona Lisa Synthetisee.

But digital art is something quite different from digitized art. A generation of artists working in pixels and logarithms and CART monitors proclaims that digital is a new medium, a fully legitimate medium in which 0’s and 1’s replace paint and canvas. (By Jack Miles & Douglas McLennan)
